This subject further develops students' pre-production, production and post-production skills. Students work in small teams to produce a short film written during the previous semester.



This subject gives students an introduction to critical films and filmmakers from the Asia Pacific region. Through viewing and discussion, students will broaden their worldview of cinema to inform their own filmmaking practice.


This subject requires students to apply their first-semester studies to the post-production of short-form content. Students will develop proficiency in industry-standard editing processes, techniques and software. This subject also introduces students to creating titles and colour grading.

This subject covers the pre and production phases of students' capstone films. The film can be a standalone short documentary or drama or a pilot (proof of concept) for a web or television series.


This subject introduces students to the creative and technical foundations of cinematography. Students will work with digital cinema cameras to learn industry-based production techniques, protocols and processes. Students will use their own scripts to develop pre-production documentation and produce a micro short. This subject also introduces students to health and safety requirements specific to the film industry.


This subject develops student skills in graphic and motion design. Students will create a film poster, an opening title sequence, credits and subtitles. Through these assigned projects, students will further develop competency in industry-standard design and titling software.
